July Plant Parade challenge

Hi all,

My challenge to you all this month is to paint a 'flower from Switzerland'. These fabulous flowers are taken by my friend Lotti.

Please don't post until 25th July but any chat before then is great. Use any medium and when you post please say size and any technique.

If you want to use the photos for anything other than this challenge please ask Lotti first her website is on the watermark.

Oh and an extra challenge for you - Name that flower

Re: July Plant Parade challenge

Thanks for Hosting Wendy beautiful photos and flowers!
I can name most of the flowers! The only one Im not sure of are the little transparent bell-like flowers? And yet I feel I should know it.

Re: July Plant Parade challenge

They end up like that after being orange. The actual flower is white. The lantern is the seed case with an orange berry inside. I've only seen them here as house plants

Re: July Plant Parade challenge

Thems goose berries. I have just been picking and eating some in my garden. Mine dont get a chance to look transparent, they get eaten when the lantern looks paper dry. Its a figet between the field mice and I as to who gets to them first. Lol.

Lovely flowers up this month. Thank you.

Re: July Plant Parade challenge

The purple daisy after the foxglove is Echinacea.

The blue almost daisy-like above the tulip is centaurea, a cornflower. - I grow them here.
Not sure about that yellow daisy - is a type of sunflower?

Love pollinator on the f/glove!

Super pics from Lotti - thank you Lotti!

Thanks Wendy - looks like another colourful garden this month!

BTW - Galleries are up for June.

Re: July Plant Parade challenge

Wendy - Thanks for the link to the Chinese Lanterns. Interesting. I don't think I've ever seen them before? I wonder if we can't grow them in NZ.

So many wonderful photos to paint! I've saved quite a few of them, but I know I wont be able to get them all painted, so I need to choose - and this month, I promise to get on to it early, instead of rushing a couple of days before the Challenge ends!
