Cool sketches everyone! Here is my 1st one :

Coffee: a super fast sketch in Sharpie pen and Bic highlighters on Watercolour paper of my well-worn travel mug that I bring to work every day (done at work :P)

SnapV - Well used no doubt. Love the colors. Is that a Contigo mug? Top looks identical to my new one.

Sketched the Easter Bunny again. About 5x7 in using 2 mm HB lead holder. Resized in Art Studio.

2-bunny

Keep sketching
Joe

Joe - Very cuddly bunny And yes it is a Contigo mug. Those are just the best at keeping coffee warm in my opinion. I've had mine for years and it's still great!

Hi, Ai!

Joe, what a nice portrait gesture. Great catch. Your lanai is close to a covered porch! Lucy is the art friend where we went to sketch, so her yard and new stuff for me to sketch! Aw, the bunny is sweet from this angle, too. Nice work.

Virginie, such a colorful sketch. Gene loves coffee mugs with lids, I just like old coffee cups. Ha. I like your lines and hatching.

I sketched in the huge book with it on the footstool, Micron 01.
Number 5, egg - I was clever, thought I would cut one of Gene's hard boiled eggs in half for something different. Well, not so easy to portray in black and white. So I tried unpeeled and that wasn't any better. Should have used pastels. Ha.

Jo - to be honest at first I thought the hard boiled eggs were some kind of nut, pastel would have sold it.(but than you know I am a fan of your pastels.) The shells look super.

Robin - Your sketches always make me smile how you can capture the tone and shape with unique colors. Love it.

Ai - Thanks for kind words.

SnspV - thanks. I live my Contigoes. We have 4 (2 for hot - coffee stained; 2 for cold mostly water that does not taste like coffe.&#128526

Keep sketching
Joe

Re: Art Scavenger Hunt #492: April 10-18

Hey guys, there's so much great stuff here, I sadly don't have time to comment on all of it. I barely have time to sketch though I did manage a couple of sketches today.

1. Drive 5 miles. It was more like 25 miles. I sketched in my car while waiting for my brother at a park near his house. It got cut short when he arrived. It's missing a big shrub, a house, and some shading.

2. My town or a part of it. Done at our local park. I'm trying to get better at foliage and rocks (there is a big natural rock structure behind the trees, but it doesn't read that way).

I hope to have a little more time to sketch and comment soon... but I am enjoying looking at everyone's sketches and reading comments about them.

azulparsnip, I was especially drawn to your coffee maker. The colors work so well together, and the different marks give it a lot of interest.

Re: Art Scavenger Hunt #492: April 10-18

Okay I posted that rather late last night but it was not that screwed up. Not sure what happened (and I was sober) so try again....
SnspV - thanks. I love my Contigoes. We have 4 (2 for hot - coffee stained; 2 for cold mostly water - does not taste like coffee.)

Sculpcha - nice going out plain air. The trees look pretty good. For doing trees in graphite I use the technique they teach in pen and ink forum. Basically you draw small stars but don't keep pencil down for the whole stroke. Better reading there tutorial then my explanation.

Here's a link http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/showthread.php?t=304494

Keep sketching and Happy Easter,
Joe

Robin, my kind of coffee maker, red and blue. Ha. Yummy chocolate!

Joe, I have to drink out of glass or ceramic cups. I try and have a cup for travel, but use it only at hotels. Ha. I would rather have cold than plastic or metal. Smiling.

sculptcha, what great sketches at the parks. Your style really captures the feel and scene. Sometimes it is as important to leave out things as to put them in. Woohoo!

I sketched on the porch yesterday and today. Big book with Micron 01. The sketch of Gene is awful, he is a good sport and lets me post it anyway. He does have a "big head" but in a different way. Ha.

Number 6, bunny - a couple of Easter gifts from Gene. We have a bunny in the yard almost every morning, of course not while I was sketching.
Number 7, family member - pbftt....
Number 8, from nature - bottoms of trees and flowers in the lot behind us toward the lake.

Love everything you all did

We went to Hortus Botanicus (it's like a zoo for plants ) in Leiden today. https://www.hortusleiden.nl/en/
We try to visit a couple of times a year. It's a good place to recharge.

Anyway, here is "from nature". All are around 15 minutes, small pencil sketches HB and 2B in 9x14cm Moleskine.

Jo - Nice bunnies. Gene might have a big head but he looks comfy and 'connected'.

Jeroen - super cool. 15 min each just makes it more super. Thanks for sharing the link. I especially liked the pic if the canal so peaceful looking.

Joe
