Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

#1 9×12 WDE Rooster Quick Sketch
Mech Pencil 2B
Need a lot of work.

2016 been a struggle. Work commitments are piling up. Do not see the possibility of relief in the coming years. Adjusting to fit the current schedule. Rust has thicken...

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

I like this drawing. Very wise move by using contrast on the rooster's eye.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Thank you Moises Menendez!

Your works has been both amazing and inspiring. I am always on the lookout for your next WIP post.

The rooster's left "pouch" at the chin has a wrong proportion. Strive to do better in next try.

A belated response. Hi AudreyCatherine! Thank you for your encouragement and looking at the sketches .

#2 Lion-Dragon Head 9x12, Mechanical Pencil 2B
This concludes the WIP in 2016~

The contrast has been increased below.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Nice sketch work on both pieces. Simple lines at proper angles with the Rooster gave it great form - the eye has it!! Awesome work on the Lion-Dragon Head.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Thank you flycatcher10 and Permiew!

Your encouragement made my day great!

#3 Ballpoint Pen 9x120 scribble/ doodle

I hope to achieve greater fluidity in my strokes.

A generous lady who is hosting the weekly all media event has kindly shared among many beautiful photos, one of which from her childhood.

Hope to do better next time.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Thank you fedetony! Your paintings are beautiful!
especially the skin textures on the gecko.

Ref Pg 13, post 195

9x12 ballpoint pen. A lot of work especially the nose area is problemic, to watch out in next attempt.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

avoid the noses at first... simply make the nostrils and leave it to the end for having the correct tones. Normally you just have to insinuate where it is... thanks for your comment on my painting Which gecko? I have made 2.. you can find more stuff I've made in my blog..

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Hi fedetony,

I like both but the blue with orange(red) spots stood out.

The snake (viper) horns scales also caught my eyes.

Thanks for the tip!

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Contour sketchings.

Figuring out how to use ink point in sketches, no answers for now.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

WDE event at All media thread.

This is quite not what i have in mind although it is a scribble that I am interested to try out.

Both 9*12, ink.

There are some elements on this close to what i want to practice on.

Re: Coaltip 2017 Sketchbook

Pen & Ink February 2017 challenge.

aquarium

9x12, ink. 2hr. Composition practise.

I would say among many things, the lighting on the fish can be better handled.
