In your painting 'Brookgreen' you seem to have maximized your use of color -- they all seem to belong together. Great job.
I like the looks of the path going into the deep dark woods and the quiet stillness of the pond.
A beautiful composition.
The Best,
j

Beautiful, Ruth. I remember your post of the palette you use and the color balance you acheive with it is very, very nice. I'm learning from you - thank you!

Ruth
This is a very lovely painting and really catches the mood at Brookgreen. It is such a great place.
Doug.....FYI (do not want to prempt Ruth)...but Brookgreen is at the southern portion of Myrtle Beach (South Carolina)area, back from the beach a mile or so....contains mostly outdoor gardens with large and small scuptures...and also a wildlife area...all with beautiful, large live oak trees. Extremely well kept and planned.
Great place to paint---inspiring as we can all see from Ruth's paintings. She has captured the mood at the gardens so well.

Thanks Reye,
My niece in Lima, Ohio was contemplating a move down to SC, and so someday I may get a chance to visit Brookgreen.
I find gardens a wonderful source of inspiration, and one of my hobbies is visiting stately homes and gardens in the UK.
Cheers!

Ruth what a wonderful and inviting piece.
Your colours are vibrant. I want to get my shoes on and go for a walk!
