Rocks on the lake.
Hello, everyone. I am posting in this forum first time. I did post some of my works in the critique forum before. I paint for 2 years . Acrylics. I slightly changed this painting since this photo was taken. I removed the dark blue shadow on the left side under the central rock. the form of this central rock (like an old hut) was what attracted me. Canvas on board, acrylics, 18"by 20"
Julia
PS. the colors are deeper in the real painting
I slightly schanged the painting so now it looks like this:

Ylcia, your scene, "Rocks on the Lake" is a very peaceful composition. I especially like the calm water and that hugh rock on the right it is very impressive.
Thanks for your posting, I have enjoyed the viewing.
The Best,

Julia
I love the reflections in the water.
The hard rocks and soft water seem to live in harmony in this piece.
Very lovely.
By the way where is this location?

Thank You Leaflin! This is one of the parks in Canada. This is from photo my son brought with him from his trip but this is a small part of it, the rocks stand next to the mountain.

Julia,
I especially like the colors of the rocks. Perhaps a little movement in the water would enhance the painting. You do nice work.

I loved the cool blues and greens in this painting Julia. The rocks are almost luminous. Very beautiful. It makes me want to go there!

Your painting is very pretty. I love the colours you used and the rocks are interesting subjects.
My disclaimer before I say anything...I'm new, I paint as a hobby, I never took formal lessons..so you may discount anything I say without hurting my feelings.
Just one thing about the rocks; I'm wondering about the size of them. I'm thinking the largest rock is very big, and could shelter a bird or something that is sitting in the water underneath the lip of the rock. This would give me something to compare to its size.
Am I way off?

Betty, the rocks are very big they can shelter even a canoe, but that is not the bird and I change it after posting that should be a deep shade it is how it looks on the photo from which I worked. But I was advised that its look like a plasma coming from under the rock so, I toned it down so it looks now like this:
I am painting only for 2 years myself. but I do try to take classes time to time, when I can
