Arrow July Plant Parade Challenge

Hullo everyone, I'm your Host for this month's Plant Parade which is.....

BLUE FLOWERS

Yes Blue Flowers and all various shades of blue - blue/purple dark blue, light blue, lavender/blue so many shades of blue

Guidelines for the Challenge;

Paint in any size, any medium
Use the references provided, use your own, or paint from life
"Reveal Day" for posting your paintings, is July 25th (not a moment before!)
You can chat about your efforts, complain, brag, etc., but don't post until the 25th.

At the end of the month, I'll make a gallery of all the entries and post that here.

Here's some blue flowers references which are all from my own garden, and you are welcome to use. You will also find many more in the RIL, or you may have some photos of your own which you want to paint.

Acquilegas

Dwarf Iris

Geranium "Johnsons Blue"

Gladiola Flower

Hydrangeas

Another Gladiola

Pansies

Lupins

Sweetpeas

And this one is not completely blue but I had to add it as it's a beautiful flower

Have fun and looking forward to seeing your blue flower paintings on the 25th July.

Excellent choices! I have a pot of plumbago that is such a lovely shade of light blue, so might use them.

Re: July Plant Parade Challenge

I was just thinking of blue flowers...now if I can only remember if it was because I had a reference I wanted to paint! If not, you've got some lovely references here!

If I can find them amongst the wild looking greenery, I know my husband planted some balloon flowers this year...maybe I can get a photo of them to work from! Hmm...

Re: July Plant Parade Challenge

Blue - Plumbago flowers are a beautiful bright sky-blue color. I think its a climbing plant which grows in more tropical temps, as we cant grow it here. Meggs would know.

Re: July Plant Parade Challenge

Yes I can verify to the existence of Plumbago..

Im confused though Kay, over here, Plumbago is a shrub. If its under-pruned it can look like a small tree.
I had several growing at the last house.
However I agree, its a beautiful blue, and here, flowers most of the year.

Re: July Plant Parade Challenge

My plumbago is a self-seeding low-growing flower Meryl ... gets everywhere! Pretty blue with bits of pink, and spotted leaves.
Then there are forget-me-nots too ... had quite a few of those this year! Also have a few of the ones youve posted Viv, so I should be ok for subjects!!
Thanks for hosting and sorry I'm late checking in!

Re: July Plant Parade Challenge

Maureen - Isnt it interesting to see how different flower species differ from country to country! We cant grow Plumbago here - too cold for it I think - but Ive never heard of a seeding variety, so thats fascinating, and probably why our Plant Parades are so interesting!
