Hails from United States
Isaac

Hello folks! This is a painting of a little boy named Isaac. he is the brother of the girl I did a portrait of last year named "Abby".
This is 12 X 16" oil on canvas. I tried something a little different for me on this one. I did the background with a palette knife. I have very little experience using a knife for painting so it was kind of fun. I like the texture that I got. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.

Bob

P. S. I'm cross posting this on the portrait forum as well.

Bob, this painting is super. Love it. I think that using the knife on the background is a good counterbalance to the sweetness of the little boy's face.

Well done!

The sweetest thing!!!!
It's adorable and fresh, and beautiful harmony between the subject and the background.
I was a little surprized of the arrangement, doing a portrait in a landscape format, but it really looks like the painting is holding well the empty space

Thumbs up lovely

I like the color scheme very much. I would have liked to see some of that warm color of the background in his shirt. I guess is very subtle and I can't see it well from here.

I agree, very beautiful.
I would suggest a cast shadow from
the figure maybe...

Hi, Bob...good to see you

beautiful work

I agree about some connections between the BG and the figure ...maybe a shadow

Lovely detail on the little boy!

Thanks for the kind words and taking the time to comment Pam, Gia, Xavier, FOX, Autumn Joy, Adiro and Dana Design. It's really nice to get some feedback. I get really good suggestions about things I haven't noticed which is very helpful. Your comments are very much appreciated!
