This is a great portrait, but to me she looks like a grown women not a waif. Perhaps late teens?
I keep trying and enjoying every minute.

I'm unsure about the orange highlight on the left side of her nose.

You've captured a unique expression on her face which makes the painting intriguing.

I agree that the title seems unfitting. I'm afraid that the idea of a waif does not come across when viewing the painting. If I had not seen the title, I would have thought I was looking at an expressive portrait of a young woman.

Great start indeed. I imagine as you go along you will loosen up as suggested. One area I wanted to make a smaller offering towards is the eyes. I have popped up a quick rework just as an example of possible improvements. Keep going - doibng well.
