After the Rain

"After the Rain"
I'm calling it done. This is a little different than my normal mod style.
There were a few things I wanted to practice on doing.
One was a wet surface, not sure if I accomplished creating a wet walkway.
I did not want to use a gloss since it photo's so bad.
C&C always welcome, appreciate 3rd eye.
36"x 24" canvas panel, acrylics

Re: After the Rain

The walk way looks wet to me. I think it works the way you painted it.
On a side note, I have a feeling that the water on the right side looks at the same level or higher than the street.
I like the colours you chose.. the red grabs the eye to the depth of the painting.

Sara.

Re: After the Rain

Eric, it's a smashing drawing and use of colours, but as Sara mentions, the water/quay levels don't read correctly and I think the yacht is too large and significant

Re: After the Rain

Everything looks good to me but the yacht. It looks pasted on. Is it the size? I don't know. Seems the the sharp line where it meets the water shouldn't be that straight. There should be some movement.
Some of the white on the walkway looks like snow. I think it would look more like wetness if there were a few hints of reflection of the sky or buildings.
That's just my take on it, so take it with a grain of salt.

Nice! Your style reminds me of Anthony Kleem.

Re: After the Rain

THANK you ALL, for your much needed C&C.
Wassie, you're right on. I added a little lt. blue glaze to the white spots, looks much better.
The sail boat is not against the far wall as it looks to be, like the smaller boats, but more towards the viewer, like in front of the dark yellow store. Not sure how I can display that. Perhaps downsizing it maybe the best option.
This pic came from a free desktop wallpaper pic of a Greek village . (Can't find it now)

Re: After the Rain

Very nice and the pavement does look wet. A good observation from the others about the height of the water. I like the row of buildings across the water.

Re: After the Rain

It was fun to watch this one come of age in the easel thread.

Nicely finished.

Re: After the Rain

Eric - I think the boat is a question of scale.
Those at the back are tiny, and in line with the red building .... but if you look at the yellow building and the line from the bottom of the white boat to the building, it's just about in line with the door - therefore, not far in front of those other boats ........... but the scale of it makes it look massive.

Just another suggestion too - those yellow reflections - if you added some horizontal lines across them they'd make the pavement look flat there - atm, it seems to stop abruptly at the reflections.

This is a bit crude, but just to explain a bit more visually!
