Since it's winter up here, and flowers are hard to come by, I decided to make this month's challenge Tropical Flowers!
In addition to the few reference photos I took myself when we visited Louisiana, I asked permission to post some of the photos my brother's partner took in Hawaii, with the assurance that we are using them as references, not to reproduce the photos!
So use these references, or your own, but paint tropical flowers this month! Any medium, any size, any colors, and any tropical flowers! You can discuss, kibitz, moan and groan, or crow, just don't post the finished work until February 25!
These are my references (you can also find them in the RIL):
New Guinea Impatiens
Bird of Paradise, New Orleans
Orchids, New Orleans
These pictures are the ones from my brother's partner, taken in Hawaii. To assure him that they wouldn't be used for photos, I promised to resize them at a lower resolution. If you can't work from these, let me know and I will resize at a slightly higher resolution for you!
(I have no idea what flower this is, but thought it was really cool!)
(Hibiscus, in its natural element)
(again, don't know what flower this is)
(This and the next are birds of paradise)
(Another unknown to me)
I've got some more, but I'll have to put them in a new post...
As you can see, I stopped bothering to mention that I don't know what the flowers are...but since they're beautiful, and from Hawaii, I figure they fit the theme.
Have fun and happy painting!
