Use to denote nudity/mature subject matter the reason why I don't 'do' watercolour...

I just DON'T know when to stop... I think over-working (in any medium) is my biggest flaw.

approx 300mm square
watercolour on 300gsm paper

(I blame this on all the water-colour/pencial posts recently... I just had to get out my watercolours... so as punishment you get to see over worked results! )

Talking caught me....

i wondered if anyone would comment on that.

I usually get asked "Why just one eye??" so I wondered if I'd get grilled on the two eye thing this time.

I think this is the only 'public' viewing of a 2 eyed deevaa.

Perhaps since we get two DD's we get two eyes as well. You spoil us Deevaa!
I don't think you should be disappointed with this. I can see what's bothering you but there are strong points too. Keep your watercolors out! Keep painting (em, that sounds like an order).

Deeva.... Whats wrong with this...

I feel partly responsible... let me tell you.. I started art 3 years ago.. I started by drawing. the original ones were pretty yukky. I worked a 12 hour a day job so didn't have time for classes.. Which meant I woyuld draw from anything I could. Then I thought... I should paint. My first attempt was watercolour (2 years ago) this is my first watercolour

I was wrapped... And I still have this painting on the wall in my study... Then as I "progressed" I didn't like my watercolours anymore.. I tried acrylics, oils etc... The Bill Nabors got me back into watercolours with his pencil (and tap) post.. I look back on the monkey with fond memories ans think "was I really that bad?"

The piont is.... Watercolour is a great medium.. You do well at it (as evidenced by this post)... so keep it up girl

Talking all your fault

I'm gonna get you back Pete, this is ALL your fault. LOL

Actually water colour is very relaxing for me, even if it doesn't turn out 'just right' .. so really I thankyou.

Talking

Can you post the referance photo for comparison, Deevaa?

I agree that watercolors are devilishly difficult, deevaa (there's a triple D). I am trying to screw up my courage to get myself a set. No time right now though, I have a big, easily corrected oil to do this month!

you know what, i can't seem to get anyone to be a subject in a nude painting for me except really well-endowed women, and it's hard to paint them because people think you just paint out of a playboy or something. i know this is off the subject but the woman in the picture looks huge (pretty face though. i especially like the color of the lips.) where are all the average women?

nice painting!!

Miltz, Miltz, Miltz....

*shaking her head*... actually yeah, I can post the photo.... maybe. I'll think about it.. I might be saying that because I haven't had my first cup of coffee yet though. After all, TeAnne posted her butt here in the name of art....

... and richard, well as a 'not average' woman I dunno! Although I was wearing a corset, so my breasts were being pushed forward as well as the fact that they are large.

Sooo true, Richard. Must be a cultural thing where women with large breasts are more confident of their body's innate beauty, and so called average woment less so. Silly, really. I do sympathize (hmmm, is that the right word?) with your plight, I do think it is more difficult to paint a truly beautiful, pin-up style model and have the resulting work looked at seriously. Keep looking though, word of mouth and groups of artists might be a good spot to look, rather than running or posting ads around town. I wonder if your proximity to Reno is having an effect?

Look at that, I got all the way through this post without making additional off-color comments, deevaa! Did Teanne really post her butt?! I have been gone too long. Considering how much time I have spent here the last 24 hours, I remember why, now...

Now, alas, I must go to work...

once i was so desperate for a sitter that i got a hooker to do it. HA! that was odd. first time for both of us.

seriously, you're right. seems like the only females willing to sit are the ones who don't represent the average woman. *not that they're ugly!* it's just that, let's say you're trying to capture the spirit of a nude man, right? and the only ones you can get to model all look like arnold. what's with that?

you know what i want? i just want to draw a nude female from life or a picture who DOESN'T LOOK LIKE A PLAYMATE. is that so much to ask? why is it folk freak out when you ask? don't they see the complement behind it? i'm not saying they're ugly because they're not supermodels, just that they're pretty, and normal, average. why does that get so many peoples' drawers in a bunch?

we need a good webring or club of nude sitters... either free or not too expensive. i'm not made of cash. and as much as i study anatomy, it's not the same when you're drawing from life. it's just 2 different animals.
