5" x 5"
The bird was scratched with a #16 X-Acto, the background bits with a tattoo needle, then I came back & stippled with a tech pen. I tried the Ampersand inks for the first time with this board. I used a diluted wash of the black repair ink over the background areas.
I have mixed feelings about the Ampersand inks. I like the way they don't
leave a haze on the unscratched black areas, but it takes more time to mix the color I want with the limited colors, as opposed to all the colors available with the Inktense. The Ampersand inks also dry on my palette, unlike the Inktense, which I can re-wet during a coloring session. Still, I'll try the Ampersand inks again, I'll have to remember to mix it in little containers, so I have some for touch ups.
This board's going to the art show at the Lodi Sandhill Crane Festival next month (www.cranefestival.com
) along with a couple of photo entries. I sent a much larger board last year, but to maintain my sanity, I stuck with something in my normal size range this time
. Last year's 9" x 12" beast is here: http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show....php?t=1331302
Here's the WIP, including a detail. I didn't scan many stages on this one.
The "all scratched" stage
Not much difference between the one above and the final below, some scratching of the color in a few spots, that's about it.
