Oliver FINISHED

This is the second scratchboard I will have done of my cat Oliver. He's been a part of my life for over ten years, and I adore him. He's brought me a lot of smiles and comfort over the years, and I couldn't resist doing another drawing of "my Boo". (By the way, that's why my username is Jennaboo. The "boo" part is inspired by my Ollie.)

This is 5x7, and so far, all I'm using is a #11 X-Acto knife.

C&C are welcome as I go along. Thanks for looking!

Here is my reference photo.

Re: Oliver WIP

A quick update on my Ollie. The eye is at an ugly stage, but I'm hoping with some more smoothness and subtle gradations, it will improve. I hope!

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking.

Here's a bit of progress; just making my way through the stripes of the forehead and the ears.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking.

Re: Oliver WIP

Looks really good so far Jenna. I like that you can move things (like the eye) with scratchboard and there won't be any evidence once it's done. It makes drawing so much easier compared to many mediums.

Re: Oliver WIP

A beautiful photo of Oliver to work from and your scratch work is doing him great justice.

Re: Oliver WIP

Hi everyone. Sorry I didn't reply to these nice comments sooner! It's been a busy time for me.

Thanks so much, Patrick! That is a beautiful feature of scratchboard, isn't it? It's surprisingly forgiving.

Thank you, TJ. That's so nice of you.

Re: Oliver WIP

Pretty cat. My Mom had a Boo (a cat) who made it to 21 and my board name Spikeaboo refers to my late African Grey parrot Spike, who called himself Spikeaboo or Spikeabooga. The African grey I have now is named Koumba and she calls herself KoumbabaBoo.

Re: Oliver WIP

Thanks Tina! Isn't it something how our pets become such members of our families? 21 is a ripe old age for a cat! I've seen African Grey parrots in videos and they are so smart! They must be a joy to have in the house. Thanks again for the comments.
