Cactus

Hi All,

I'm still just doing smaller pieces to learn what I'm doing. With each one I find techniques that I really like and since they are smaller I don't get upset if something goes really wrong. None of them are meant to be masterpieces.

I took this photo at a zoo a few years ago. Like I said before I have plenty of reference photo's I won't be running out. This is 5x7.

I'm still learning so any suggestion are fine by me .

Re: Cactus

Still playing with this one. I'm also really liking the cactus in the back. Also mixing the textures adds interest to the little piece. This is just a play piece but I'm liking it a lot.

Thanks for looking...all advice is received willingly.

Re: Cactus

Very nice work. Was the zoo in Arizona? You don't see saguaros too much in Iowa.

Re: Cactus

Dusty this pic was taken at the Omaha Zoo they have a wonderful desert dome there. This pic was taken in January with snow everywhere outside. Needless to say that day I spent a good amount of time in the dome. If you have never been to that zoo it is one of the best in the mid-west. I see you are new to Wet canvas so welcome.

Re: Cactus

Danna, Thanks for the welcome and information on the zoo. If Tucson can have polar bears in its zoo, I shouldn't be surprised Omaha can have a desert dome with saguaros.
I'm new to Wet Canvas and new to scratchboard, but am enjoying learning it, and looking forward to seeing your completed piece.

Re: Cactus

Going marvelously so for! I have to say that you have a terrific grasp of the textures and how to achieve them. Excellent!

Re: Cactus

Just because it's small, don't discount it as an art piece. Love the textures!

Re: Cactus

Thinking it's pretty much done. As always I will look at it for a couple of days. I learned I really like doing the stippling with scratching. For me the more detailed the better.
