Back after a 5 year hiatus

I originally signed up to this forum in '09 when I was into colored pencil drawing but took some time off to get my music software business off the ground. I got into acrylic painting after attending a workshop by Patti Molljca two weeks ago. Since then I've been trying to do painting a day to get my skills up to speed. I'm going to post my work as I do them and hopefully learn something from the great artists on this forum.

I moved your thread here, it seems more appropriate than the Partner forum.

Re: Back after a 5 year hiatus

Here's some of my work since taking the workshop. The reflective pears was from the 3 day worship. The tomatoes were the first in my daily painting journey. I'm doing small pieces to get the hang of value composition etc.

And here are the rest. The orange bell pepper was done this morning. I had some time before going to work so I figured I'd try to nock something out in 45 minutes and see what happens.

These are wonderful with their brilliant colour and thick brushwork. Those eggplants in particular really pop.

Welcome to Acrylics! Will look forward to more.

Beautiful work. You are so lucky to take a workshop from Patti Mollica. I love her work and can see her signature brushwork in your paintings. Did you add any medium to get the buttery texture to your paint? And what kind of brush did you use? if you don't mind me asking...

I use those green Liquitex free style brushes. Nothing fancy. I didn't want to spend too much on brushes since I didn't know what I was doing. Patti actually says the bad brushes give you some of the best brushstrokes. She had us using those Loew Cornell brushes that come 3 in a pack. Big brushes help you really loosen up.
