the latest two

Hi all,

These are the latest paintings...

Title: Bench Bum v.3
Media: Watercolour

A garbage scavenger having a rest...

Title: Som Bram Roy v.7
Media: Watercolour

This is one of the original people of the series. Landmine victim at the local market, 7 a.m., sometime in 2003.

'Som bram roy' is the local lingo for 'please 500 riel'.

500 riel was 12 cents back then

cheers,

max

These are very cool figurative abstractions! I especially like that the feet are the tip off to the figures. (gives them a firm foundation? ) The shapes in the top one are wonderful, and the technical execution of the second is impressive! Pen or watercolour for the line work?

all in watercolor...lines done with straight pigment and tiny amount of water, very similar to a quill pen, dip, apply, dip, apply...ad infinium...

I took a moment to look at the others in this series and I like them all. You have created a beautiful balance in each of them. Nice work!

these are such light airy crittilings,
often I feel as if they are underwater,
like those fishhies you can see thru
bits of color from one angle
invisible from another
