Re: February 2014 PLANT PARADE

Wow, great seeing everyone's work!

Marionh ~ Love these. Great knife work. I especially like the colours in the first one.

Eyepaint ~ Nice bright colours. Whimsical!

Gail ~ Oh my!!! Love love love. This was the reference photo I used too, and this is how I envisioned a painting. Mine did not turn out this way at all though. I wasn't able to get the lightest colours and movement. Well done!

Jean ~ Stunning work. Love them all. I like the background. The eye fills in the details.

Christel ~ Nicely done. Love the vibrant colour and contrast

Meggs ~ Well done. I especially like the 2nd one.

Tim ~ Wow! Incredible drawing!

Sandy ~ What beautiful vibrant colours. Like how you did the leaves.

Doctoring in Arts ~ Wow! Loving the colours in that first one especially!

Okay, well here is mine. This is my first attempt at painting a flower. Would have preferred it to be much looser but had no idea what I was doing so this is what it is. I am happy with it but I will try to play with this one again on a bigger canvas maybe. This is an 8X8 stretched profile canvas with painted sides.

Ruby - thank you. Your macro is gorgeous!

Jean - thank you. Your digis are so lifelike! Particularly the bud

tuscanny - thank you. What lovely reds in yours!

Meggs - Both are great - I think I like the second one better - seeing both the inside and the outside

chaffee - your graphite version is stunning! I have found inktense become muddy when washed over graphite.

Babli21 - thank you. Yay! Happy yellows!

Kay - thank you.

doctoring - thank you. Love the bold white brushstroke scatter marks in the first one

Lotusblossom - thank you. Gorgeous! Yes this needs to be big big BIG! Maybe 36x36"!!!

Re: February 2014 PLANT PARADE

EP - Inktense eh? Your colouring here is delicate with some lovely effects .... (we must correspond about this medium ) ... these are nice little postcards.

Gail - that's pretty fantastic! Gorgeous colour.

Jean - so delicate as always - the hard and soft contrasts are really lovely and blending is superb!

Christel - what a beauty! The colours are lovely and the velvety petals gorgeous!

Meryl - these are both very nice the second is dramatic!

Tim - so glad you didn't use the inktense over that beautiful pencil drawing! Your tones are so good and it would be a shame to hide all the work! The second is fine!
Glad you joined us and hope you will be back!

Sandy - such a beautifully vibrant pink! Wow, it demands attention!

Subi - I do like your tectural painting in the first and the colour of the second is so vibrant! Really good curve on those petals.

Cristine - utterly beautiful! superb blending from the rich darks to the light brights - very, very nice.

Viv - glad to see you back! Lovely work with the inktense - so much more delicate than mine! - this is very nice!

Re: February 2014 PLANT PARADE

I notice several did the same reference as I did, but with slightly different interpretations.

Here's mine, done in acrylic on 16" x 16" wrapped canvas. I call it "Heart of Hibiscus."

I'll be back later to comment on all the lovelies already posted, but feel free to C&C on mine.

Ok Ok such stunning work. I was attracted to the same one that a lot of you picked. Couldn't resist trying those colours.

I will be back later to comment individually on everyone's efforts - which are all spectacular - but for the moment here is mine, on 11 x 14 canvasboard, in acrylics:
