Re: Best of 2013 - Floral Art Show

I've enjoyed painting in the Plant Parades each month, each year, and here's my best (I think) from last year.
It was painted for the November challenge - Chrysanthemums - using acrylics and is about 12" high (I think!)
I bought a bunch of the flowers, stuck them in a vase on the window-sill and there they waited for a week!
I had already painted a b/g for future use - seeing the colours of the flowers, they just seemed to 'fit' and it all painted itself in a couple of hours!

From when I hosted July's Plant Parade, my favorite was the lowly red hat flowering weed, or prairie coneflower as it is known to some. I see these every spring and admire their tenacity just as the pioneers had to have to venture out west to settle new land. Size is 11x8.5, watercolor, Daniel Smith paints on Masters paper. It sold recently to an Arizona couple originally from Texas.

In winter last year the colour of these pansies just called to me. I had a great time painting them in a loose style in various 'poses'.

Re: Best of 2013 - Floral Art Show

Hello to all!
I just realized - I didn't post a bunch of things I painted (hard to truck in-between WC and FB what was posted and where). However out of what actually ended up posted on wet canvas, the best one I think will be painting, what after some consideration I called "Framed".

The lisk to this painting is http://www.wetcanvas.com/forums/show....php?t=1124502
and this is an Oil on Ampersand panel.

Re: Best of 2013 - Floral Art Show

Most of my florals in 2013 were painted for the Plant Parades.
This was the one I was happiest with. From the June Plant Parade "Rhododendrons".

Maureen, Here's one from the January 2013 floral parade but I can't find the link. I'm sorry but I did try to find it.

Re: Best of 2013 - Floral Art Show

My favorite was in the February Plant Parade: Lilies in Sun and Shadow, 7x5" Oil on Gessobord. I have trouble capturing that elusive thing I think of as real "Art" with a capital A, and something about this one just makes me feel like maybe I'm getting a little closer.

Here's the original thread, and my post is #104
