Floral & Botanicals DECEMBER Plant Parade

  • Welcome to the December Edition of the Plant Parade.

    This month, because this is the very busy, silly season, (leading up to Christmas,) we have a combination of Hosts; Maureen, Dewi, Jean and myself.

    So, we have a Seasonal Challenge for December;
    A Seasonal flower arrangement, or a flower or any Xmas foliage of any sort.
    For example; in the Southern Hemisphere December is the first month of Summer, so I always make a Xmas flower arrangement of red and white roses for our Xmas Day table. BUT for the Northern Hemisphere it will be Winter so maybe ivy, pinecones, and candles? Whatever you can come up with. It doesn't have to be an arrangement, any Seasonal flower will do.

    There are few rules;

    Crop, enlarge, distort, play, manipulate a reference in any way you wish.

    All media welcome - mixed if you wish

    Discuss, banter with others about your choice(s), your successes, finds and/or difficulties in this thread.
  • As our usual "reveal day" is the 25th and because this month of course that is Christmas Day, we can begin posting our work from the 20th December on until the end of the month.

    If you subscribe to the thread it's easier to keep up with it.

    The first 3 images are my own photos are were taken 2 days ago. You are welcome to use them if you wish. The next 3 are from the RIL. You can use these OR your own refs - the choice is yours. Enjoy!!

    Rose "Dublin Bay"

    Rose "Pascalli"

    From the RIL - Sunface

    From the RIL - Indiana Jim

    From the RIL - Mustcreate

And this is Maureen adding some links for you!

Ivy images in the RIL

Hollyberries by Smudger

Hollyberries and leaves by Rue d'Oak

And again, by silverflagon

Links to twigs and berries -

(That was a search link - but in case it's expired -

Rowan berries by oldrockchick

Hawthorn twigs and berries by Charlie's Mum

Nandina berries

Don't forget the ornaments and the tinsel! -
RIL Holiday ornaments - when there, search 'Christmas' and see what comes up!

And just to give you an idea of what we meant for this Plant Parade -
When I first joined WC I did a Secret Santa with a lot of other members in the Project system - this was my offering (we didn't exchange items!) - I made the wreath and painted it from life using watercolours.

We all hope you have fun - and come up with something you can use for your own holiday celebrations!

Re: Floral & Botanicals DECEMBER Plant Parade

Maureen - thanks for adding the extra links.
All my roses are in full bloom at the moment, I just hope they arent too early for Christmas Day! One of the great pleasures of my life, is getting up very early on Xmas morning, going out to my garden, and picking enough roses and other flowers to fill every vase I have. I love to have the house filled with flowers on Xmas.
Got be be some benefit from all those hours spent gardening! And also the delight of living in the South Pacific where Xmas falls in Summer time, eh Meryl
