Moose- Pastel- Ken Tiessen

An earlier landscape from the Tetons called for a moose, albeit a small one in scale. So I wanted to paint and draw a few for practice- here is a 9x12 soft pastel on Canson:

They are such spindly, long legged, goofy looking critters when babies....but grow up to be big majestic animals like what you have painted here. Nice piece.

Lovely light! Weird looking creatures aren't they? I've never seen one in the flesh but it looks accurate to me!

Nice job Ken, the antlers are beautiful all by themselves, aren't they? I love their shapes. Beautiful work!

Hi Ron- They are! Such an unusual animal- really prehistoric-

Hi Ruthie- Thank you! They're not much bothered by that either- or anything else-

Hi Chris- Thanks! They are, and can be immense- measuring 5-6 feet across the tips.

Well done Ken, I encountered a big one years ago while I lived in Colorado.

Lovely! I like this one and the newer one equally well, but I don't have the artistic vocabulary to explain why.

Re: Moose- Pastel- Ken Tiessen

Hi Moe- Thanks! I've been close- don't want to be too close, though!

Hi Christinal- Thank you! There may be a few different reasons, although an explanation isn't necessary- I'm happy that you do-
