WDE July 26 2013 Stoplight Parrotfish

Hi all,
I've wanted to try an underwater scene, so I painted the Stoplight Parrotfish. More challenging than it looked! It's watercolor on 7 1/2 inch x 11 inch (19 x 28 cm) Saunders-Waterford 200 lb CP.

You did a great job with this. The fish glitters with light and the sea floor is excellent. Gorgeous.

Re: WDE July 26 2013 Stoplight Parrotfish

Edna, I paint a lot of underwater scenes and fish. The SL parrotfish is one of the hardest to paint. I like how the scales fade away and there's a little glow to the face and belly. I love the reef! Just enough detail, splashes of light and the colors and textures are very true to like. Super work!

Lovely underwater scene! Well done on the rendering of the fish scales adding to the 3D form! Nice silvery sheen too.

You did a wonderful job on this. The reef is great. I have been trying to paint reef scenes for over a year and cannot get it to come out to my satisfaction. You have done a beautiful job on it. Enough detail without overwhelming the senses. Great job.
