"Red Delicious"

Just finished this tonight .... after procrastinating for days! LOL!

I'd like to know if it's too busy .... does it look finished? Any other comments, suggestions .. or critique would be appreciated.

Thanks!
Dee

Hi Dee,
Great color! To me, the tree is getting lost in the very busy background, and it is such a nice tree it deserves to be right out there saying look at ME!

I like the colors, too! Really energetic. But I agree with Marty, the tree is getting a little lost, you might highlight it a bit. And another thing, the upper hill on the left - it gets disconnected when it meets the tree. See, it should continue on the right side but it doesn't.

Hi Dee..I got here!!
I love your tree..takes a while to see the apples, but that's OK IMO, love the little one on the ground!!
I like the colours you've used on top of that orange ground(as in canvas colour)...you have split this somewhat in half with the hills..perhaps you could think of how to brings some BRIGHT patches/splashes/strokes/lines(YOU choose) of the orange into the lower half of the painting...this will pull the image together..maybe choose one of the other colours on the tree too..(I am doing more of this myself..I also tend to have distinct areas in my painting..I've studies some other works recently, it's amazing how little bits of colour can work, without standing out as much as you would expect)
I don't like the birds..they don't add to it... ..
what part of the painting are you dissatisfied with?
usually that's a clue as to what to change..you just have to figure out the "what to?" bit...
Hope it's a starting point..
Gill

OH Also..any time you ever want contrast, remember there's line as well..add some straighter lines if there's lots of curves, and vice versa..(This painting doen't necessarliy need straight lines though)
