My first attempt at pastels

I just bought my first set of pastels and I figured my favorite food would be a good test subject to see how they feel. It'll take some practice, but so far it's pretty fun!

Re: My first attempt at pastels

That's really neat for a first pastel. Those things are shiny, pitted, *and* hairy, so they're not easy to paint! You clearly paint in another medium, so be beware of pastels, they're addictive! :-)

Re: My first attempt at pastels

Very good! Welcome to pastels- they are a terrific medium. I've gotten a lot of learning from them that is now translating across into oils.

(I did some art work in school with chocolates as the subject, and appreciated their other qualities later on, too. Then, I had to go out and pick up more-

Re: My first attempt at pastels

It may be your first but clearly not your last. Very lush strawberry and as Charley said not the easiest things to start on. I hope to see more of your work.

Re: My first attempt at pastels

Thank you so much everyone. Very positive reinforcement to keep going with pastels! I can't wait to experiment with grass and skin tones. It's great to see that the pastel board is busy so I'm sure inspiration will never be a problem. I loved lurking here before!

Good job Stacy! I never do strawberries, too difficult!

You're having fun? I think you're hooked, just like the rest of us here!
Bwaahaahaaa!

Hope to see more soon,
Kris
