Re: But three's not a crowd!
This is gorgeous. I love the black & white almost 'checkerboard' background. Unexpected and inspired, allowing the orange/ blue colours of the foreground to really pop out. I should think you are quite pleased with this.

Re: But three's not a crowd!
Thank you Colin and Gayle. So happy you liked it . Appreciate your comments. I felt the left part of the painting is little empty, so I thought of painting it solid black. I did this on my computer. Before I put it on canvas, would like to get your opinion if this is better?

Re: But three's not a crowd!
I suppose you could but I'm afraid it would put too much weight on that side - For me personally, I think it's fine as it is!! The textures you've created are so interesting that I don't believe that side is bland at all. In some cases subtle is the perfect option.

For me, leave it as it is! The balance is good and the flowers do take the eye into the left anyway.
I really like this one.

Re: But three's not a crowd!
Bhavani I agree with gaykir and Charlie's Mum. The original painting has an interesting composition structure that really works even if it breaks some of the 'rules'. As Charlie's Mum said I think the eye is drawn left in any event by the interesting texture of the area.

Re: But three's not a crowd!
This is really nice Bhavani. I love the textures you have achieved and the colours are great. The checker board design is most effective. I am with all the others that you leave it just the way it is. Well done.

That texture is great. It certainly adds another dimension.
