The Lion Experiment w.i.p.
19"X15.5" Canson Bristol Illustration Board
The idea here is to work on longer hair and I told myself I'm not going to be too upset if I can't pull it off. Having a time with the eyes, they're just too small - can't get my pencils in - he's mostly hair. Larger eyes are infinately easier than smaller eyes.
I am hoping he is looking at you, if not let me know, his head is at a big tilt.

His right eye bothers me a bit. Not quite looking at me. An expert needs to give you an opinion. I'm no expert. I just love your work.

Leaning toward Pingpongfan's view but it's a very tough call to make due to the differing shape of each eye as well as the angle. If it's off, it's only by a scooch. In this instance draw what you see, not what you think you see, and you'll be right as a trivet.

Re: The Lion Experiment w.i.p.
First yippee, get to go on another adventure with you and looking so forward to it. My impression is that the eyes are looking forward but slightly down to the left. The right pupil is slightly up, just think there are two different focus points. Like the eye color and you just nailed the reflections. Just great dimensionality (is that a word) on the depth of the eyes. Don't stress, just go for it in the Karen way and you will amaze us.

Hi I'm no expert but if I look at the eyes seperately the eye on my left is looking right at might the eye on my right seems to be looking down a bit. Lovely start.

Thanks for stopping by Smudged Blue and for your supportive comment
I took a first shot at the nose and am taking a look at it on the computer, see how it looks. Once again, a terrible day out for a pic.
I have stopped worrying about the eyes for a bit, I just want to work on the fur on this one, see what happens.

Safari Jane, just do your fur here like you do it for short haired animals - just make your pencil strokes longer. Another masterpiece in the making coming from you, I just know it!!

Re: The Lion Experiment w.i.p.
Looking great so far! I agree with the prior comments about the right eye...IMO you might need to move the pupil a little more towards the right? Not sure about the shape of the eye itself...
I can't wait to see more!

Re: The Lion Experiment w.i.p.
Don't obsess with the eyes, get more color and interest around them and then access whether you need to do anything with the eyes. Great nose texture. Glad you are going on this and waiting patiently (not) to see the next post. It is going to be a beauty Karen.

Re: The Lion Experiment w.i.p.
Glad to see you have done a little more, take your time, you will do great . How do you go about achieving the texture in the nose? (you may have written it before, just point me in the direction if so).
