Joyce, I love your fruit bowl, that is a lot of tricky curves.
I just finished a painting chock full of tricky curves. I have been sweating it, because I needed to have it done to hang tomorrow. Hopefully it will be dry enough, the gallery is open only on weekends, so I'm not worried about next weekend, just getting it hung without getting paint smeared on the walls.

@becca..thanks very much...I am very interested in this forum, because many good works that one of them works becca, revealing expression of passing texture and light harmony.
@nancyMP..thanks very much...your work one of my favorites, because it is rich in composition, color, and expression of life.
@blarkin..thanks very much...you have amazing works, with smooth color gradations and precise composition, giving rise to a feeling of calm every time I see it.

Joyce, admirable! I try to stay away from stuff that tricky to paint. You have a great sense of color and it's harmony, and you've done super work!

I think it's because I grew up with this particular piece of machinery, so there a lot of sentimentality. And I love old stuff, just for the way steel and wood ages so beautifully. (the third has a bit of old weathered wood on it)

"Baling Wire & Spit"
Most midwesterners and other country folk will know exactly what I speak of.

Re: What's On Your Easel?....February 2013
Dollardays, thank you. It's the presence Brandon always brings...
Michaelshane, I have tried several other techniques and this seems to work best for me. It's actually a base layer, I will add details with glaze layers later on, but it's close to finished here.
Becca, thanks, you're always so encouraging.
There are several great paintings going on here this month! Joyce, that fruit bowl has some challenging ellipses, mtpalms this is a strong painting, great design, good details and colors. Good landscapes. All the portraits look good, I'm excited to see more!

Marcia the background of this painting was a great idea, it makes the machine part really pop.

Re: What's On Your Easel?....February 2013
Thanks Paul. In the photo I took for reference, the sky was blown out, so I hunted around online for something dramatic, but not overpowering.
