Re: What's On Your Easel?....February 2013

ummm ... used to do water color ... but have always loved the 'smell' of oils, so I picked some up last year. This one I attempted to go as realistic as possible. The other one's I've done have more visible brush & knife strokes. This one has MANY layers which is why it's taken so long.

and I appreciate that! I've just recently gotten back into after an 18 year hiatus ... and believe me ... it's not like riding a bike.

Re: What's On Your Easel?....February 2013

Fred, Nora, and WDaniels, great portraits!

W, your portrait is almost as smooth as a photo (unless your camera is out of focus) and looks marvy!

Nora, I love the way you've brought her to life, and

Fred, I'm looking forward to the wine at the lady's happy hour!

The first page is a knock your socks off start to February's WOYE !

It was hard for me to leave it after seeing

Michael's little girl with her ball; she is so adorable!

Coy, what a grand size for you to be painting this portrait. I hope you have lots of room behind you so you can back up to see it. You're doing those subtle skin tones changes so beautifully that I wish I could do half as well. I agree, he has real stage presence; really impressive!

Marc, wow! When you post you mean bizness! The street musicians are very appealing; the arched doorway with the flowers has an air of invitation; and you have a lot of great chiaroscuro going with the girl sitting on the bed.

Now tell me -- do you have all three of these on your easel at once, or do you rotate them? If they're all three there, then you need an easel as big as Coy's!

Wow, some really nice work here this month. Coy's portrait especially stands out. Thanks Becca and Nancy for your compliments on my work in progress.
