Re: Greyscale to colour issues, please help

Just a general note on glazing over a grisalle- I am not saying there is only one way to do it- but:

generally speaking, I have had the best results when using tiny amounts of TRANSPARENT paint very thinly over the grisalle. So in effect the grisalle values are maintained. I only colour transparently on top of them. See what I mean? When going opaque you have to just hit the same value perfectly, using the grisalle as a map only, not as a contributor to the final work, which I try to limit to only the lighter parts of the work. In your tie I think you would be able to go transparent on top with out losing the values under. Good luck!!!

Just a quick update on the post (and I do want to reply to your lovely comments too), but I thought you would like to see these. I do know others who have done these charts on WC and the experience was INVALUABLE

I can absolutely recommend any one doing these. Now my black from Old Holland has arrived too, I am going to do them all again with black as the shade instead of white as the tint, I expect to get some rather nice shades too.
