Lightbulb Weekend Drawing Event 25 Jan 2013 ****IMAGES****

Hey all....

PLEASE JOIN IN THE FUN THIS WEEKEND.

I will be posting 16 images....and a challenge.

Please wait until all are uploaded before commenting - thank you.

You have 30 minutes to make your choice and choose your materials - you may use any medium.

For the next two hours, just go for it……then STOP!, scan or photograph your work and post it in your own new thread with your title, beginning with WDE, plus date, plus title.

When you introduce your work, please add a description of size, medium, support (paper, canvas etc) and time taken.
If your work is digital, we'd appreciate a description of whether it's freehand drawing/painting, manipulated image or done using the filters available in some programmes - you could also say which programme you've used.
All are acceptable but we'd like to know the "hows, whys and wherefores"!!

Use WIP for any work in progress at the 2 hour mark, and MI for multiple images if other works are to be added before the following Monday.

NB. To avoid forum flooding, please put all of your work during the weekend, for the current WDE, into a single thread: multiple threads will be merged!
From the following TUESDAY, you may open a new thread for later work.

You have the whole week to participate - until the next WDE starts (usually Friday). If you finish a piece after that time, we now run a 'Catch-up' thread in the forum each month where you can post any WDE not completed in its allotted week .... it's a sticky near the top of the forum page.

After posting your contribution, please view others’ entries and comment and encourage when you can. Unless requested, please refrain from critiquing.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I hope you enjoy travelling with me fron one end of England to another....
... Now we travel even further North to the North Yorkshire Dales...
To the beautiful old town of Skipton, with it's old fashioned narrow streets. Here is the Old Apothecary Shop. SPRING
http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showphoto.php?photo=173465&cat=3499
We now take the high mountain cross-penine road over the Dales towards the North West of England and the English Lake District....
In October - AUTUMN This little stream flows into Derwentwater
http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showphoto.php?photo=173464&cat=46
.....as twilight falls... still in AUTUMN... so quite early we find this lovely marina and boat house on the other side of Derwentwater.....
http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showphoto.php?photo=173467&cat=46
and finally....we head back down, still North West, but closer to home in the Midlands.... To LIVERPOOL. Taken at the WALKER GALLERY. There is a table where you can sit and sketch things in a cabinet, so I thought I'd give it a try..... Taken last January... WINTER.......
http://www.wetcanvas.com/RefLib/showphoto.php?photo=173468&cat=55
...These are all my own photos so no rights issues...
As usual feel free to crop, add or omit to make them your own..
YOUR CHALLENGE, If you care to accept it, IS....
Find an English Artist not alive today, that you like and try to emulate their style by making it a tribute piece to them....
ENJOY!!!
It would be around '87/'88 Annie - that's quite a menagerie you have in your siggy.
Maureen - quite possibly - we went the week after easter last year. we visit my brother in Leeds, and love to drive out over the dales, The A1 is a pain though. Keep meaning to get up your neck of the woods but it's a long drive...maybe not so from Leeds.... might try the old Premier Inn jobbie :P
Is Derwentwater anywhere near the Lake District? We explored the Lake District once and I remember seeing a stream just like in your photo. Beautiful place!
Re: Weekend Drawing Event 25 Jan 2013 ****IMAGES****
Yes joel. The Derwent (we have 2 Derent rivers one in the NW in cumbria and one in Derbyshire) river runs into Derwentwater one of the larger Lakes in the English Lake District near Keswick. Trouble with the LD is that unless you can walk it is hard to get near the lakes or see the best views,. Thger roads run along the lakes but have walls so cars can't stop. Along this side of the lake there are 2 small pull-ins where you can park and this tributary runs into the lake at this point, so you may well have been stopped by this very stream. It was a very rainy day when this was taken so the stream is quite full.
