Hacienda Carrillo

12 X 12, oil on cradled panel
A bright and chill morning at the Leo Carrillo Ranch, near Carlsbad in Southern California. There are many interesting
and colorful views of the landscaping and adobe structures there. They also have quite a collection of
Pea-Fowl roaming about. If you can come up with an intriguing title for the above painting, feel free to post.

Thanks for looking!

Re: Hacienda Carrillo

Well designed picture from an interesting viewpoint. The "motion" of the foliage is a nice contrast to the fixed nature of the building. Nice painting. Gary

Re: Hacienda Carrillo

I like your composition, matter-of-fact, it is within a few feet of what'd I'd planned to do... However, I'd just gotten back from some painting out around Laughlin, Nv, and up in Oatman, AZ.. Between being a lil' tired and this SoCal chill, I decided not to make it down to the Ranch... Next time around, a great place to PA!.. Title? .. "Morn at Leo Carrillo"..

Re: Hacienda Carrillo

Thanks for the kind words Trikist, lauraart, Boomerbeach, Flanagan. I've been experimenting with the square format and finding it is challenging, compositionally speaking--but when you get it right, it can result in a very satisfying image. The bright, Winter morning light brought out some vibrant colors to play with. It sure was fun!

Re: Hacienda Carrillo

I'm happy to report that this painting was juried in to the San Diego Art Institute "One Foot" Show (for works less than 12" sq, including frame), running Jan 25 thru Feb 25, 2013
