Great! Any others? I also want criticisms. I need to grow as an artist.
Whenever I got into trouble at my job I wanted to know what it was for so if I could correct it I would. To me, that just makes sense. Same here. I need to know the trouble spots and possible corrections. I took the advise of darkening the value of the shadows and lightening the lighter sunshine areas.

Re: Sanctuary #4
I definitely prefer green The second colour isn't too bad either, but I don't like the last two at all.
I think I don't quite like the highlights you put on the pews yet, they look like somebody pasted them on for whatever reason. It would look nicer and more realistic, if you blended the edges, just like you have done with the first pew. I encircled the area for you, I think you did this perfectly. If you did the same with all the highlights, letting them slowly merge back into the "normal" colour of he pew, it would be so much better, in my opinion.

Re: Sanctuary #4
What colour blue did you use on the stained glass window. If you used that on the carpet wouldn't it draw your eye from the carpet to the window. So, although nobody seems to like the blue, that would be my choice. But, go for the lighter side of your blue sample and not the very bright side. The green sample takes my eye to the book on the pulpit which is almost outside the picture and I don't find that as appealing as being drawn to the window.

Re: Sanctuary #4
Thanks Fuchur. I gotta be careful with that name.
I agree on the blending, standby for an update.

That is a good point. Let me see what I can do.

Re: Sanctuary #4
You might try adding white jelly roll gel ink pen, or a little white pastel -if you need to tone it down a bit you can add cream over the top. Looking good

Re: Sanctuary #4
I really like those pews. I think the seafoam looks best and seems like a carpet color one would normally see in church. I like the teal second best.
I have the same opinion as Vena about the green carpet drawing the eye to the edge of the picture, to the green book in the pulpit. Might not do that if it was a darker green, I don't know. Seafoam or teal, both look really good to me.

Re: Sanctuary #4
I prefer the seafoam as it is more subdued and there is plenty of brightness throughout this piece and I think its nice if the viewers eyes have some where quieter to rest.
I preferred your highlights as they were they really read as realistic but the change isnt too harsh, not all highlighs are blended and I feel your first effort was on the money, in fact they were one of my favourite areas of your piece.

Oh thank you very very much! That makes it worth the effort.
You should see the main stained glass. Lemme see if I can find a pic.
By the way, that is my next painting.
It's the parable of the sower. Luke 5-8. The hand is at the top then the birds, then the weeds, then the rocks. Finally, the good soil and the wheat grows. A great parable for the area as we are mostly wheat farmers.
