So realistic, like the reflections too, taking notes on this beauty.

Re: The Ground Shook like Thunder
With blue and what else?, have you made the black car look so shiny? How did you get the name on the number plate to look so perfect? Good eyes or a magnifying glass. Looking forward to seeing this beauty finished. This is going to be one happy owner.

Re: The Ground Shook like Thunder
thanks all for the great comments. Like Im sure all of us I love to see the feedback and check the forum maybe 3 or 4 times a day to see if anyone has seen my latest posts... vanity thy name is man (or woman...) heh
pingpongfan: the shinyness is simply a product of copying from the reference photo. If you do a good job and its shiny in the photo then somehow it looks shiny.. I dont know how it happens with matt pencils but it just does. I think the white highlights help tho.. theyre always the last finishing touch I do.
Re the colours, I always start a darker area with black. Like a black layer to then be burnished in with the colors. Sometimes the black is done very hard and sometimes its just gently laid down and sometimes its graded from dark to light... like up the doors on this car. Then I layer over it the blues... in this case its a mixture of helioblue-reddish, helio turquoise, and prussian blue. Then after doing it I felt it needed a more purple tinge so layered again with a generic purple pencil. THEN I used a hard faber castell black pencil to smerge it all together.. like a blender!
all main colors are polys.. I do use a prisma blender a bit too...
The number plate is done just with a sharp pencil and a steady hand (and with my nose touching the paper nearly and my tongue out the corner of my mouth... (heh... Im quite short sighted and I take off my glasses for drawing..)
Im not actually wedded to any type of pencil. I have lots of them loose in my color coded stack of drawers and just grab the one that looks right. But I do start with a soft black then soft colors then hard blender colors..
As I mainly do drawings for printing it all comes out the same after a scan and digital print anyway... yes?
and to Tagmoj... looked at your website.. I like the idea and agree it is from a photo to a sketch but I do change bits (like backgrounds etc etc ) so I counting it as art too even tho galleries Ive approached tend to look a bit down at one as not a 'proper' artist! huh!
Oh well back to the drawing.. windows to do next...

Re: The Ground Shook like Thunder
Thanks for the info on colours, etc. Galleries "don't know nothin'". I have seen stuff in galleries that they call "art" that is not a patch on yours.
I'm looking forward to seeing your final artwork. Do you have another one lined up yet?
