Cool Copper Patina Painting

Hi all,

Decided to try painting with chemicals on copper to see what I could do. Tried to get something similar to an Asian-inspired landscape.

Any thoughts, comments, or critiques?

Scott.

Nice!!! I used to be absolutely mesmerized by various patinas, all the chemical magic that went along with it, but mostly with the notion that time and environment changes the piece. That the art piece is 'alive' pleased me.

Yours is quite nice! Is it hanging in a place (outdoors maybe?) where it will evolve? What fun for you to watch the process!

Ammonia and salt is my favorite combo on copper for the deep aquas and turquoises. And don't forget about heat...you can get some wicked cool reds and reddish purples with a torch

Looks great! Are you going to seal it with varnish or wax? For stainless steel in restraunts they sometimes apply oil to keep it from getting fingerprints etc.

Re: Copper Patina Painting

Hi Scott
This is beautiful! It certainly has and Asian feel in composition. The patinas that you have achieved here are full of light and color. There is a wonderful exchange of the warm and then the cool vibrating back and forth for attention.
