~ FANTASTIC SERIES, Eileen! ~
Thanks SO much for sharing your "Coop" with us. I could sit and look at these all day. I just love the quality of the pictures you're getting with your camera...and wish I had the equipment, the setting, AND the time and patience you've got. You've really caught some extraordinary shots of this couple.

Thanks for your nice comment, Frank, and welcome to the forum.

Kate, you're so right, that birdbath IS worth it's weight in gold. I just said to my husband yesterday, "Wow, that birdbath is such a boon!" and he agreed. Yesterday morning, there were two hummingbirds bathing merrily in it. This morning two pairs of birds were alternating baths in it--a pair of mockingbirds (who I never saw at the bath before), and a pair of scrub jays. They alternately chased one another away as they took turns taking over the bath. It was very amusing to watch.

Sunny, you're a trip! Thanks for all that applause--my ears are virtually still ringing.

Rob, the lens I'm using most is the Canon EF 75-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM ultrasonic lens. As well as I remember, I spent about $600USD for it last winter. Don't know what it goes for now, but I'm sure you could find a better deal without looking very hard. I paid actual list price from a mom 'n pop photo shop where I bought the Canon D60 body. I'm thinking of getting converters for it, since it's usually bright sun when I'm shooting the hawks and the slower f/stop won't be a problem.

What a treat.... these are really fabulous. Are you closer than you were last time? Looks like you were able to move around a bit more during this visit too. I like the vantage point in #6 and #7 because the background really enhances the colors of the bird. Well done, Eileen!

I'm not sure if a converter will work on that lens..... OK, I did a search, the Canon TC won't work, but third party ones like the Tamron or Sigma *might* so be sure to check first. Here's more info:
