very nice but in my opinon it is all subdued and muted and could use a little twinkle in the one area you want to star.

this is very nice but doesn't show the motion around the rocks and colors reflected in the water from them. This would really spice it up. Where is the light coming in? All the prereqiosites are there for a really good painting.

I figured since this was a studio effort, Yax...that perhaps the scan is not quite right based on comments, so took a chance to take the image and adjust.

This might look more like the original...of course I don't know, but if so...it shows more contrast and pizzazz....

let us know...because some are asking for more spark, and indeed you might have already done so, in which case it is more an issue of adjusting and editing images before uploading....

Thanks all for your comments. Larry, my digital image did not reproduce the painting as it should have, but the painting isn't as intense as your altered image. I am going to devise a way to take better photos. Yax

yeah....if you can work that out, and if many could....that would be great.

Sometimes I've seen people give critiques and ideas for improvements that have confused some of the artists such has been directed to- they thinking they had accomplished what was all being said. Then, later we find out...the uploaded image does not really represent the actual original. When someone, a friend...(who knows?) takes a new pic for them and adjusts for them and reloads...its suddenly the better image everyone imagined it could be!

Tough to have good connections back in forth in dialog if our images shared aren't conducive to such.

Regardless, Yax...I like the energy of this piece...and having painted along many such places as this one....I know the excitement the moment generates in the gut. Its fun...tense, great drama...all around!

Yax .. my studio is lit by flouresent daylight bulbs and as you may be aware, these blubs just light about 4 square feet below each bulb with direct light.
I take my painting away from the direct light and lay in on the floor on a dark (garbage bag) (dark helps) and I then stand on a chair and take the photo from directly overhead .. it works on most of my work but not all. After that I still may have to lower the brightness or raise it but overall it's the best I came up with yet other than dragging it in and out and even then I'm not sure the photos are any better. (I have 4 double sets of flouresents in my studio so it's well lit but not overly bright as in stark. When I take the picture I leave 3 corner lights on and don't fire up the fourth .. that is where I take the picture .. in the light but away from the glare of direct falling light. If all that makes any sense.

Yax the composition is great and the colors could use bumping up a notch or two to make the painting more alive.
I do like the subject mater and it has all the elements of a great landscape.
