Palms manipulation...
Another shot taken on my recent vacation to Florida.
The original was taken at too great a distance and lacked detail and generally looked flat... but I liked the shape of the palms.
I severely cropped around the trees and boosted the contrast to further intensify the outline of the palms.
After a little bit of touching up, I pasted as a layer on top of a coloured gradient background and 'multiply' merged the layers, then finally applied a light edges effect.
Here's the original...
Regards,
Howard

Fantastic
Fantastic manip Howard. I think while you're at it, I'd remove the two branchless poles on each side and it would then be perfect.........IMHO
So you were in the neighborhood and didn't stop and say hi...............hmmmm?
Yes, Anna Maria is just a short trip south of here.

Nice one Howard! The poles/dead palms on either side didn't really bother me until Ozzie mentioned it. Thanks Ozzie However, either way, I like what you've done with it.

Thanks everyone for your kind comments, it's always appreciated.
I know some people are not too keen on the 'poles' in this image, but I kind of like the odd symmetry they give... so they're staying.
Regards,
Howard

Well I suppose the poles can stay if you insist. Yes, they are symmetrical........heck I'm just a purist for palms. Thats my excuse and I'm stickin to it
You're welcome Alan

LOL!
Don't see many 'palm purists' about these days, do you?

Howard...I had an odd reaction to this image. As it was loading, I thought...Hmmm, this isn't all that terrific...neat, but ho hum... THEN I saw the water! Holy CATS!!! It's SPECTACULAR!!!
And as for the poles? I'd have to say that *I* like them. They tend to hold my eye right where I'd want it to stay.
