Re: Scavenger Hunt 281 - Aug 25 - Sept 2

Eyepaint - Thanks for the interesting list. Love your watercolors!

wabbitt - Great sketch. What brand of ink do you use? I've been thinking about purchasing DR MARTIN, in part because they're available locally.

Irwin - I like the arrangement you used for your oil sketch. Your "bone" sketch is really done well. Personally, I think the comments were very interesting because I learned something new. That's always good at my age

Ai - Wonderful sketches...and such a great way to sketch.

I hope to have time for sketching and posting tomorrow.

Re: Scavenger Hunt 281 - Aug 25 - Sept 2

Irwin - wow, yup, that totally captures Cairo traffic. Excellent job on the oil sketch. Nice tuning nuts.

Ai - thanks. Nice set of sketches. I love that page with the hand because the mouse is so great & the fingers. I can never get flesh color in watercolor.

Carole - thanks. Those acrylic inks are from Daler Rowney. Chinese ink is from a class I took -- a little goes a long way so it's going to last forever. I hear Dr. Martin aren't really inks/watercolor, rather they're dyes and not very lightfast.

EP - really like the two containers, very nice

It's 11pm, I'm trying real hard to stay awake for another hour to charge my car battery. So maybe another sketch...finger's crossed.

#7 nails
#8 made of bone (it's a "bone folder" for book binding 'n stuff though I think mine is made of plastic. They were originally made from bone.)
#9 paper clip
#10 memory (mini-SD USB reader)
bonus: made of metal - Whoops, I've already done metal. Palette scraper this time in pencil. It's been so long since I used a stump, I coouln't find mine.

The rest are Ink & inktense.

Thanks for looking.

Wabbit: Love the icon and name, nice to meet you... great sketches and super jump on all the items... nice ink work... the Cairo driving must have been hilarious to watch but also scary to be near.. Irwin: Great oil sketch super job on the banana, pencil, scissors and guitar neck... really like how you did the background.... That is a scary picture...

Ai: Nice sketches looks like you had fun on your sketch workshop... nicely done..

Re: Scavenger Hunt 281 - Aug 25 - Sept 2

Here's #1 a life-size bust, probably plaster of Paris, substitute for ceramic.
I got this from an art supply company in California two years ago and have drawn it at least ten times. It has one eye open and one closed and shows the muscle groups in the face. I still cannot quite capture the proportions and form accurately, but I seem to get a little better each time. At least this model holds still

Re: Scavenger Hunt 281 - Aug 25 - Sept 2

Jeanne -howdy! hope you're staying cool

Paul - hi, thanks Nice job with the pencil sketches, hope you enjoyed some frozen yogurt

Joan - ooo, you hve a guitar! love your "vase" of flowers, very colorful

Irwin - wow, love how you made something so simple beautifully painterly

Carole - you're getting better every time with that bust. I use one of mom's old styrofoam wig stands/holders for head practice

Can you believe it? Another one from me! This is inktense & micron pens in the homemade sketchbook.
#11 made of wood
#12 scissors
I would have stuck a pencil in there but I couldn't find any. I see my pens but they're not readily identifiable. The wooden tote holds my art tools (like the bone folder) and paint knives & brushes, pliers, etc.
