Re: B52

Jim great looking BUF.

Those birds created quite a bow wave. When they came in behind my tanker for refueling, you could feel their bow wave pushing you forward and they added about five knots to our speed just from that bow wave.

They weren't sleek like the B58 I eventually flew.

Re: B52

I like the landing gear doing its thing in this painting- always fascinating to watch. Once 3, (!), of us crawled up in the number 1 wheel well during a retraction check on the ground and got to see how it all worked from the belly of the beast. We stayed up there for 4-5 cycles, pretty cool stuff

Re: B52

Thank you Hal and Steve,it's nice to get the little 'inside stories' of the different a/c. I remember you seldom saw a Scimitar on deck, without a dustbin slung under it!,the fuel dump valve used to leak

Re: B52

This is a very nicely done painting, very detailed and well executed. I love how the bird's fond nickname "BUFF" is in the paintings filename...well done!

Re: B52

Today 15/9/2012 is RAF Leuchars 'Battle of Britain ' Open day and Air Show, One of these is a feature of the show. Although only a few miles away I won't be there, my back would not stand wandering around an airfield half the day.
