Water Lily - WIP
I could not participate in the July plant parade due to unforseen events and challenges, but I had printed out one of the beautiful water lilies which served as reference photos.
I must admit I traced this one because I wanted to focus on the combination of markers and coloured pencils. I am still working on it and hope to be able to present the finished piece soon.
Comments and critique are - as always - highly appreciated!
And for anyone who's interested: I first lay down a layer of light pink with a marker, then I added cadmium red, magenta or a darker red with coloured pencils, and then I went over it with the marker again - it then serves as a kind of solvent for the coloured pencil pigment.

Re: Water Lily - WIP
Great contrast in this! I don't know CP but think this will be beautiful when finished!

Re: Water Lily - WIP
Thanks everyone for your appreciating and encouraging comments! The water lily is still not finished, but some more petals worked on. I have to work on it after work, so it does go rather slowly.

This is coming along nicely and has great color. I have done only a little CP work and had real difficulty with blending. You certainly do not have that difficulty because your blending is lovely.

Re: Water Lily - WIP
Violetta, thanks for your appreciating words! Regarding the blending: I go over the coloured pencils again with a marker, and as those markers have an ink which is solvent-like, that does the blending (at least, that's what I think).

Re: Water Lily - WIP
Ulla, this is coming along amazingly. Sometimes it is just a wonderful push to have the monthly projects give us challenges like this. It doesn't matter if we make an arbitrary deadline. I also have no experience with this method, but love what you are doing and will be watching for your final piece.

Re: Water Lily - WIP
Thank you, Katherine and Linette, for your appreciation and your encouraging words! Regarding the size: it is a bit smaller than Din-A4. I am at work now and can't measure it out, but I will post the size with the finished piece.

Re: Water Lily - WIP
So wie die Blume umgesetzt ist, hat sie etwas
Ähnlichkeit mit Glasmalerei bzw. Tiffany-Arbeiten.
Die Farben sind stark.

Re: Water Lily - WIP
Thank you, Ernst! I think it's the combination of markers and coloured pencils which creates the strongness and the vividness of the colours. I made that discovery early in 2012, due to some videos I watched on youtube.

Re: Water Lily - WIP
interessieren sollte.
