Nor Austrian, but born into the Austrian Empire, this artist's native language would NOT have been an official language of that empire*.
Amoung other places, the artist studied in Vienna, Munich, Paris, and Berlin.
The artist lived in Paris in the early 1890's and was elected an honorary member (membre associée) of Société Nationale des Beaux Arts.
*But the language IS 'one of the 23 official and working languages of the European Union'
