New Video: How to Paint Flowers in Acrylic

Playing now on ArtistsNetwork.tv, in How to Paint Flowers in Acrylic, follow along as Tim Fisher completes three different flower painting tutorials (white magnolias, red poppies and wild roses), giving acrylic painting tips such as flicking your brush to give a more painterly, impressionistic style, and painting with palette knives. Acrylics are so versatile that you can use them like watercolors or more thickly for heavier texture. Tim helps you stay relaxed and loose, and helps you have fun while you paint.

Preview How to Paint Flowers in Acrylic now! In this preview you'll learn how to create a strong initial drawing, lay in a loose background, paint leaves and branches, paint thickly with a palette knife, and try some new brushwork techniques for flower textures. Then visit ArtistsNetwork.tv for access to the full-length version of this video.

Question Re: New Video: How to Paint Flowers in Acrylic

Hi! I just watched the video and it is GREAT!

I read the materials list and set about buying the materials right away, but I wonder whether I should buy the fluid paint or the heavy body.

Also, what size canvas board is recommended?

Thanks much.

Best,
Heidi

Re: New Video: How to Paint Flowers in Acrylic

Hi there,
Tim doesn't recommend a canvas board size, and seems to use something close to 11x17. I would suggest a sampling of sizes, or nothing smaller than 11 inches.

And he uses the acrylics in tubes (heavy body) versus the fluid.

So glad you like this.
Enjoy your painting!
All best,
Jennifer
