I love the expressions you've captured on their faces. On the female figure in the purple dress there's something not quite right about the shadow between her breasts. Too dark or the wrong shape? Maybe others can be more specific.

Re: a mix from the last week or so

Very impressive work, especially the portraits.

On the last one, I'm just wondering if there was a particular reason that you opted not to include the hair that fell forward down the front of each shoulder. I'm always interested in what an artist chooses to leave out and why...

Cheers!

Nice group of work here Mac! Looks like you're getting a lot of work done on these in the time that you had.

Lovely drawings and portraits Mac. You've got great structure in the last drawing and I'm digging the guy with the scarf (particularly his beard).

Beautiful works here- much to admire! I am always amazed with what you achieve in this limited time. Those oil portraits are outstanding! (about time you set up shop?!?)

Re: a mix from the last week or so

schaer yes I guess I wasn't really concentrating on getting a total finish to that area I think the main problem is that I started the line a little lower than I should have.

thanks for the positive comments Kevin

Jason uh the hair, well I took the photo in a short pose for the remaining few minutes of the session, and the hair just wasn't there before... and I had been trying to do a 'soft edge'... though comparing the two I think she looks more elegant without it... so I probably would have left it out anyway

thanks Carol

Loren yes I always try to get as much done as I can in the time!

thanks Nathan, I think I may be pushing up to a new level of finish with the portrait of the man.

Carol
thanks

Bethany set up shop, now that's an idea... and Ruth accused me of 'slacking' at the end of the session... as I only did one portrait instead of two

Mac

Re: a mix from the last week or so

The paintings are really great. You're doing some really nice work. In the drawings, I would encourage you to try to find some straight lines, the forms can seem overly round. Straight lines would help you contrast the hard/softness of the forms. Roundness would look rounder by comparison. Your paintings show a great understanding of observation! Keep up the good work!

Wonderful work, Mac, all around, although I specifically was moved by #5. Am always impressed by how you convey volume with such economy of shading. Terrific stuff
