Hello from Louisiana. I'm new, too. Also new to any type of forum at all! Have lots to learn about posting and painting. I primarily paint in pastels, and have really enjoyed learning some techniques from visiting this site. Also viewing the wonderful paintings!! Can't wait to start a new pastel.

FYI:
* You can access any Forum by using the “Forum Jump” located at the bottom right of the screen or the Channels drop down menu at the upper left
* Moderators and Guides have links in their Signature lines to address FAQ’s
* There are “Stickys’ (permanent threads that “stick” at the top of all thread listings) that are full of helpful information.
* You can find the latest posts of the day by clicking on “new posts”

*There is a site Search feature in the upper blue bar to help you locate topics of interest. You can also use Google Advanced Search
by simply entering WetCanvas in the blank asking for a domain name
* Clicking on your own username will present a drop down menu with numerous options including finding all of your own posts
* You must have a minimum of two posts prior to being able to upload an image.
**When you are reading a post inside a thread, as you are now, you will notice another blue bar just atop of the post. Look toward the right and you will see the Thread Tools option and here is where you click to see options such as choosing to subscribe for an Email update to the thread or add the thread to your favorites so you may easily find it in the future. (see more tips like this one in the FAQs link in my signature line)

Welcome to WC! Lots of fine folks here, you will meet some of them as you browse about.

There is an active Decorative Arts / Faux Finishes forum and they are always willing to help.

My own advice would be to go out with a camera and take as many photos as you can of brick walls. Pin the photos to the wall. study, wait. study. decide. change mind. study. go and take more photos. especially in the oldest neighborhoods in your area. I find the best pix are done at sunset and sunrise. and who said bricks have to be red?????



Always glad to see new members, hope you have time to explore all the different Forums. There are all levels of artists creating, sharing, teaching and exploring in virtually all mediums. There are many tutorials available, and the friendly folks will help you with any questions.

Be sure to check out the Photography Forum, too. No camera is required! This is the place to share any of your photos and to see what is going on.

Hi Christie! Whereabouts in LA? My husband lived in Shreveport for 3 years when he was little, this Yankee family absolutely loved it there. My parents (his inlaws) were in an accident traveling through LA, and my mil called her old neighbors who immediately jumped in to help them. Beautiful people!
