hello

This is stiff bristle here. I was directed here by a member of PDP, professional decorative painters. I have a 35' section of wall in my apt. The surface has a light sand texture, some waves and some nails trying to pop. The building is approx. 35 yrs. old. My goal is to create a very old brick image. I am planning on doing this over the winter. However I am starting to look into the scope of the task at hand. About myself. I have about 20 yrs. in the trade. Started out cutt'n my teeth on residential. moved to commercial then industrial and the last 9 yrs in the nuclear industry. I do have a small and varied back round in coatings, but have never done a faux. Is there anyone on this site that might be able to give me some help. Now that being said, the fellows that brought me up gave me this: A. It looks like should. and it doesn't get any better. B. It looks like crap. C. Your name is on it. Please advise.

SB--a Moderator will be a long in a spot to provide you with links to help you navigate this site.

Welcome to WC! Lots of fine folks here, you will meet some of them as you browse about.

There is an active Decorative Arts / Faux Finishes forum and they are always willing to help.

My own advice would be to go out with a camera and take as many photos as you can of brick walls. Pin the photos to the wall. study, wait. study. decide. change mind. study. go and take more photos. especially in the oldest neighborhoods in your area. I find the best pix are done at sunset and sunrise. and who said bricks have to be red?????

Always glad to see new members, hope you have time to explore all the different Forums. There are all levels of artists creating, sharing, teaching and exploring in virtually all mediums. There are many tutorials available, and the friendly folks will help you with any questions.

Be sure to check out the Photography Forum, too. No camera is required! This is the place to share any of your photos and to see what is going on.

Looking forward to seeing your art, too.

Life is good

Greg
