Chute #1

Chute #1, 18x24, oil

I almost didn't go to this rodeo because it was 45 min away and it was supposed to rain and the it didn't start until almost sunset. But the late evening sun is the best and it didn't rain a drop. Glad I went.

I spent more time on this that I had anticipated. Thanks to my chiropractor and the decompression therapy, I am able to stand and paint all day without much pain. Something I haven;t been able to do in 6 years.

As usual now that I see it on screen there is something I need to fix.

Re: Chute #1

Love this one, Jim! It may one one of those small things, but the shine on the man's vest is beautifully done; one of my favorite parts of this painting. What a great composition. Your work really is inspiring! I couldn't agree more, the evening sun is the most dramatic and golden and beautiful.

I am so happy to hear you're feeling better and that you can paint for longer periods of time. Very good news!

Excellent work on this! Might be one of my new favorites of yours.

Nice golden light. Another great painting. You make it look so easy. Six years is long time to be in pain. Glad you are feeling better!

Super! I love the angle of the light and the way you did the folds and textures of the cowboy's clothes, boots and spurs. You did a superb job!

Re: Chute #1

Thank you all for your kind words about the painting and my health.

Jenna, thanks for noticing the vest. They are fun to paint.

As far as the title. I am thinking "Calm Before the Storm" instead of "Chute #1".
