Re: The Drawing Room Aug 5 ~ August 12
Should I come in here and bother you, Ken?
I am about to shove my youngest child out of the nest. Next Saturday, we move him into the freshman dorm at the University of Alabama, Birmingham (UAB). I am so proud of him and scared for him at the same time. He's just a country boy and not used to the city. All new exciting and scary experiences coming up shortly! He wants to be a doctor. Getting in med school at UAB is tough going, even if he can keep the grades up. Last year, they had 2000 applicants and 150 got in. So, his backup plan is to be a biology professor, if he can't get in med school.
I never thought I would be sad when the last one went off to school but I am. It's all gone by so quickly! They were just babies yesterday, I swear...
The craziness at work is settling down finally. The two books are now at the printers. I can breath again. I don't quite know what to do with myself without a frantic deadline over my head! I...MAY...DRAW!

Oh err Ken , scrub a dub, dub, don't forget to wash behind your ears .
Good luck to you and your son Bren. We've got that to come with our son. This is when I realise what a big and scary world we live in.
Hi Jan hope your well, don't remember hearing from you for a while - hope your plumbing situation at home was sorted out (if I remember correctly!)
Happy Monday all .

Re: The Drawing Room Aug 5 ~ August 12
Good Monday to everybody!!
Ken, glad to see that you have decided to take a bath....
Bren....I have been there....it breaks your heart the first two months but after that you will feel happy for him. You should be proud of your son....
Great news about the books , Bren.
Jan.....I have the twins at another state and my eldest son is at home, studying and working..so far so good....at least I have an Accounter`s student that pays my bills...well I give him the money and he makes the payments ..and he keeps a very organized folder with the bills.
Oh Karen I know about those concerns ...What can we do...just trust we have done our best and they will grow up the best way...
I feel extremmely exhausted. I am going to let superboss that I am burned out and take some days of.Maybe I will go to see the twins and take some rest.
Have a great day everybody...
See you...

Hi Karen The plumbing was sorted out, thank goodness
I haven't been around for a while as I've had so much going on. The main thin is that my brother was taken into hospital a few weeks ago with jaundice and he was in for about three weeks. I was visiting him practically every day because Mum didn't like to leave him without a visitor. She insisted on going herself every single day, except when he was having treatment, but she can hardly walk without support, so I had to go with her. My cousin or my eldest daughter went with her a couple of times, so I got the day off from visiting, but she wouldn't take time off. The journey to and from the hospitals (he was moved from one to another) took a lot out of us and we were both exhausted by the time we got home.
He's out now, but he had to go back for keyhole surgery a week or so ago. They've found he has pancreatic cancer, but it is operable, so it's just a case of waiting for the call for him to go in again.
What with worrying about him and Mum, plus a whole other lot of things, I've been at my wit's end!
I'm off to Mum's soon as I'm taking her to the Doctor's, so I'd better get off here to get ready.

Re: The Drawing Room Aug 5 ~ August 12
ha ha ha well I got a start out, on this thread with a chuckle at Ken.
The openings he puts up there are hilarious, some times.
And it's nice that he has plenty of bubbles.... no boredom ~ then ~ just pop them one at a time.
Wow, changes going on at your place, eh Bren? I hope all goes well for him at school. And it is a shock to the system, if he is not used to city life.
I just hope he can withstand the taunting of the city boys. That he *stands strong for what HE believes.*
Sure, drawing, sounds good.
Hello Karen, how are you doing? Well, I hope.
Wow!! Jan, sounds like a bit of stress going on, your way. Sorry to hear about your brother being so sick.
That is something, that he has Pancreatic Cancer AND it IS operable. All I have heard of, were not. I hope that this is a good fix for him.
Hey Luicre, sorry to hear that you are burnt out. But I'm not surprised, reading your posts [although I have not been to the drawing room for awhile]. I hope you can get some rest.
Just thought I would see if I could catch up on the art family?
Got to do a bit of work around here, before I get back to my drawing.
Hope you all have a lovely day.
 Blessings to you. IRma

It would be much better if he DID pay the bills
Good luck Bren
Good to see you, Jan . Sorry about your brother.
Huh, the weather man promised us a high of 10C today and only delivered 3C. Can't rely on anybody . And then it snowed. Well, a little dusting but the last time that happened in Johannesburg was 2007.
