All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13
Welcome to the All Media On-Going Sketching Thread where everything goes.
Thanks to Tyree, the moderator, for giving us sketchers this avenue to post our daily sketches of any medium and any subject be it from life, imaginary, or copy of photos or masters' works or any combination. They could be watercolor, acrylic, pastels, line and wash, pen and ink, colored pencils, graphite, charcoal, watersoluable pencils, watersoluable oil pastel, watersoluable crayons, liquid pencil, collages, mixed media and anything under the sun that could make a mark, even sculptures and clay and 3-dimensional pieces.
If you are a beginner, this is the best place to start and get your feet wet. We especially welcome experienced members to post their beautiful sketches so that beginners have something to aspire to.
This is a gentle section to hang your art and therefore we do not do critques. We do encourage you to say something you like about the art that appears just before your post or a few more if you have the time so as to encourage the members who post. Likewise, we would do the same for you.
If you have a sketch that contains nudity, please follow the forum guidelines and put a butt icon to your posting. If you could help it, please save your files in low resolution so that it will load faster on a long thread like this. A normal high resolution file at 800 pixels usually would be 600-800 plus KB but a low resolution file would be 50-90 KB only.
Come and post often and let us watch one another's progress.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13
Let me start. Members are welcome to post their last few posts here to start the thread off too.
These are in response to the A to Z-Alexei von Jawlensky 1864-1941.
Each one is no more than 10 mins.
Dollar store oil pastel from China on the first two on Pentalic 70 lb sketchbook 5.5x8 inch and the rest are all Portfolio Watersoluable oil pastel on Fabriano Artist Journal.
Added Derivian Liquid pencil on the top.
My favorite though is this piece. I bought one of those old times eraser where one end is white rubber eraser and the other end is the abrasive grey colored end to erase ink which usually doesn't work but it worked superbly on this paper.
The eye highlights in white is Uniball white signo gel pen, the eyes were done with 9xxb General pencil.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13
I bought some 4.5 x 5.5 inch sandpaper from the hardware store - 36 pcs for $2.97 and I bought 3 packs to practice oil pastel with.
The grit is a bit coarse but I could manage.
These are for August SW Monthy Challenge .
This one is done on Pentalic 70 lb sketchbook 5.5 x 8 inch.
Started off with Derwent Graphitint
Prisma Artstix
Added Yarka student watercolor - the violet is superb in this set - easily rivals Holbein's Mineral Violet.

Thanks, K9. And welcome! This is a continuation of a great thread. Nice folks, helpful, not critical at all.
I haven't drawn that many cars, so from my limited experience I would say to start with easier cars to draw. Volkswagons, Volvos, older cars, etc. Here are a couple of links to some ones I saw that I liked:

Click the slideshow on the last. And Have fun.
Sandra, I like those very colorful 10 minute studies.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13
Jake, the red cheeks are back! Yay. What an embarrassing moment for the ballerina but humorous definitely. For some reason, your third sketch looks like my middle one's girlfriend! Nice job with the excited look. Goodl looking lips and eyes of the middle piece.
Haven't done any sketching yet. Perhaps tomorrow night.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13
Thanks, Sandra. Red cheeks ala Pikachu.
Funny that that girl reminds you of your middle one's friend. My wife and son thought it was a niece of mine. No just someone I saw and did a quick cartoon of.
Here are 2 from this morning.

Re: All Media On-Going Sketching Thread Part 13
Girlfriend saw a Yin Yang symbol very similiar to this the other day while we were at a furniture store - Unfortunately it was much too expensive for me to buy ($475!) so I had a go at it. I like mine better From memory.
A failed attempt at keeping everything organized made me realize how many colors I actually end up using - Still learning my way around colored pencils. I used derwent color softs, crayola student(I like their hardness!), and "essentials" I just unboxed.
I can't be the only one who's workspace ends up looking like this:
Did this about a week back - Oil pastel, soft pastel, pencil, sharpie, CP.
Another one I'm working on - I've always got something eye related going on, I'm still improving!
