Quaking Aspens (WIP)

This is a small 4"x6" I'm working on.I'm trying to learn to work loose.I've had a frustrating couple of days.

Its hard to get loose when you're working that small. My eye goes straight to those hearts and sticks. Use shading to make those trunks round and establish the breaks in the bark.

coulnd't agree more. If you want to work loose, then work really BIG and use big, swiping strokes, and do not allow to many hard edges. It will feel totally different to working on a tiny space with big sticks.

Takes time, but it will come. Nice scene, I always enjoy aspens. In real life and in paintings

Gives you a few ideas, if you are interested.
