Re: ***Daily Wash Friday 3rd August 2012 ***

Good Morning /Evening Everyone . . . . .
Coming out of lukerdome once more, to share an unhappy tale. . . .
We bought a new car on Wednesday.
On Thursday, our neighbour backed his truck into it. Not paying attention to his driving.
Over $3,000 in damage.
Went out into the garden and pulled weeds with a vengeance, so that I wouldn’t kill him. Idiot!
Oh well. . . .sigh. . . . that’s what accident insurance is for.
Bev

Re: ***Daily Wash Friday 3rd August 2012 ***

everyone,
Its a chilly 3 c here but supposed to be sunny and going up to 20 later. Rain and warmer temps the rest of the week. As long as we don't have to start covering the veggies to protect from frost already, I'll be OK with the occasional cool night. But the days are quickly getting shorter.

I have to clean up the spare room today and then see the fridge needs a good cleaning. I'll also have to make a menu for the week and get some groceries in. I guess I'll have to cook the next few weeks with company here. It's hard when I have to work until 7:30 and then I don't feel like organizing for the next days meal late at night when I have to get up at 5:30 to go back to work.

Tomorrow I am setting up a display at my old high school and have to be there for about 4 hours. During registration for a school reunion, they are having an exhibition by alumni. I won't be going to the reunion (I have to work 4 of the next 5 days) but I might see people I recognize while there.

Not much else new so I'll start my day. Have great start to your weekend everyone.

Re: ***Daily Wash Friday 3rd August 2012 ***

Good Morning all,
It is 6:15 a.m. here in just turning light Ohio. Everyone is sleeping 'cept me.

The kids had a wonderful time at King's Island for two days. Unfortunately, on Wednesday, Quinn walked into a coffee table leg with bare feet and badly bruised (we don't think it is broken) his little toe so he had a hard time walking very much. He did enjoy swimming in the pools though.

I was going to take them to Carillon Historic Park today which is a wonderful place that showcases Dayton history and all the inventors and inventions that have come from here. They even have the original Wright Brothers Wright-B Flyer airplane! But, since Quinn's toe is still very sore, we'll have to put it off until their next visit.

So, this morning we'll have a cooking lesson. Chrissy wants to learn how to make stuffed artichokes the way I do it. So, I might as well let her help me and see how much fun (aka work) it is.

Bev, You weed killer, you! what a great way to work out your anger instead of pummeling your neighbor. Sorry about your new car though.
Seems as if new cars amongst us here in the Wash suffer a lot. Our new car was only a couple of months old when a neighbor's friend backed out of her driveway right into our rear door. The whole door had to be replaced, which was paid for by her insurance company with no problem, but I wish it hadn't been necessary at all.

Doug, I love that photo and the wonderful colors in it. If I paint it again, I'll probably crop it and concentrate on the leaves and smaller cluster of grapes rather than the grapes on the left.

Geoff, Are you going to smash a bottle of wine on the corner of your new building once it is finished today????

Jana, Ouch, that sounds like a hard exercise session. I'm surprised the therapist made you hurt like that. When my DH broke his wrist and we had to go to physical therapy and then when I had to do pt at home, the therapist told me to make sure I worked the arm hard but "not to the point of pain" because that wasn't good. Anyway, I hope these sessions relieve your back pain, it must be terrible trying to live a normal life with constant pain like that.

Lulu, on your getting the Gold! I agree with the others that you look really great...no matter what age. Your active life style and mental liveliness go a long way to make that happen.

Annie, I have absolutely no idea what you are talking about today. Hope you get the problem with your iPad worked out, whatever it is.

to all who are on their way.

SYL,

Sylvia

Annie, it looks like your iPad has got its knickers in a twist. Do a complete switch of an restart. Or try another browser.

I posted my grapes crop above Sylvia.

That's the same area I was thinking of Doug, except I could make it longer so the whole golden leaf is included.

JJ, Lucky you getting vine ripened tomatoes at that price.

Wow wow WOW Hamish Bond and Eric Murray have done NZ proud in the Men's pair
Is past my bedtime but am staying up to hopefully see Mahe Drysdale do the same in half an hour.
Edit: and well done GB in the Women's Pair

Thanks Sylvia Can't say it's in my genes, my father died at 65 my mother at 69. But that was a different age and I have a completely different lifestyle. I am the youngest of four 'girls', the eldest having just turned 74. We treasure each other too.

I am really enjoying the Splash watercolour series of books that I've got from the library. Such a wealth of information, can read over and over.

Char, you asked to see my oil paintings ............well here is what I did this week. We don't get any time to fix things, (my cliff edges are too sharp for one) it's just all so quick, aimed at making quick decisions, mixing colours quickly etc. We have progressed to the seven colours that we'll ever use.
2 reds, 2 blues, 2 yellows and of course white.
Most of all I love using a palette knife!
