This one is an unlimited class plane at the present day Reno air races based on the Me209 V1 world record beating design from the 30's being readied for competition.

I saw one of the prototypes at the Krakow air museum about 5 years ago, not quite in air racing form though!

I cleaned up the airframe with a Rolls Royce and a racing canopy when I painted this scene. The original Me209 was an ugly little beast. A friend gave me some Reno pics as a reference for painting the landscape and skyscape properly, so I painted him into the background for a laugh. That's him on the right in the yellow ball cap.
